5 Tips To a Cleaner Car | Luther Burnsville Volkswagen
Take a look around your vehicle. Would you describe your surroundings as a little less than clean? If your answer is “yes,” this blog is for you. Today we are sharing 5 car cleaning tips that are sure to make your life easier and car clutter free.
Wear and Tear
When cleaning the interior of your vehicle, think about the places you touch in a daily basis. Your steering wheel, door handle, door panel, entertainment panel, gearshift, armrest and seat receive a lot of wear and tear over the years. Think ahead and plan to spend a few extra minutes taking special care in these areas. Where appropriate, like leather surfaces, coat your interior with a protectant or conditioner like these here to help preserve materials.
The Small Spaces
Don’t spend hours trying to reach every nook and cranny of your vehicle. Use a soft bristle toothbrush or paintbrush to remove dust, dirt and crumbs from those hard to reach places. Use a vacuum hose in your other hand to quickly clean up the debris and keep dust from falling to other places. When cleaning air vents, a foam paintbrush like these here are perfect for picking up dust.
Windshield Wipers
You know your windshield wipers clean your windshield, but have you ever thought about what cleans the wipers? Windshield wipers have to be cleaned on a regular basis or they will start to leave a streaky finish on your windshield after use. Simply lift each windshield wiper and run a cloth with rubbing alcohol over them a few times to restore that streak free shine to your windshield. Be sure to do this on a regular basis, especially during the spring when pollen is high.
Baked On Bugs
For bugs that just won’t budge, an everyday dryer sheet and some elbow grease will make your vehicle’s hood shine like new. Dip the dryer sheet in very hot water, wring out the excess water and scrub those pesky pests away.
Dingy Floor Mats
Muddy boots in the car? Chocolate milk crisis in the floorboard? Not a problem. In just a few easy steps, your floor mats can be good as new. Start by vacuuming each floor mat to remove any loose dirt or crumbs. Next spray the entire floor mat with a generous coat of stain remover. After that just throw them in the wash and let them air dry under a fan in a well-ventilated area. As always, we recommend test this on a small area of the floor mat first.
