How To Remove Bumper Stickers

Razors, nail polish remover, we’ve seen it all. But which is really the best way to remove a bumper sticker from your car? With a little luck, our simple three step plan is all you will need to unstick that stubborn sticker.

Step 1

Start by warming the sticker up with a hair dryer. Heating the sticker up will loosen the adhesive on the back of the sticker. Blast the sticker with hot air for about one minute.

Step 2

Using your fingernail or a rubber spatula to gently peel back the corner of the sticker. Do not use a razor blade or anything metal as it can damage the paint. Once the corner is lifted, continue to peel the sticker back (not up) until if comes completely off. You can continue to apply heat during this step to loosen the adhesive if needed.

Step 3

Apply Goo Gone or rubbing alcohol to a soft, clean cloth and rub to remove remaining adhesive. Repeat this step until all residue is gone. If needed, heat can be applied to make the adhesive more pliable.
